Follow your dreams- or can you?

My writer is following through on her dream to be published. She has her first novel with the editor for the second round of edits, trying to beat the deadline of the end of the month. I am so excited she is going to be published, even if it is self-published.

Everyone should follow their dreams. I do understand that sometimes this is not practical sometimes. If you dream of acting on Broadway, but have a family and children and live in rural Kansas, you can volunteer for the local community theater. Want to be a famous rock musician? There are video games that let you have the feel of playing on stage for an audience. Pursue your dream, but be aware, sometimes the EXACT nature of your dreams may change. There is nothing wrong with adapting to your environment.

What about those loved ones in your life that are hanging onto dreams they have no hope of seeing come true? Support them, guide them to a more realistic option of fulfilling those dreams. Support from family and friends is important. Nothing hurts worse than being told you will never be what you dream. No one should ever have to hear that, but you must also be practical.

Look around. Who do you know and what hobbies/activities are your friends involved in? Is there a way you can support each other? Support the community? How can you make your world better? Remember, baby steps are not wasted unless you stop.

Until next time, my darlings! Keep chasing that dream, but with one foot firmly in reality. (Wouldn’t do to lose you to the clouds!!)
